The headmaster wasn't at all impressed when WPC Johnson brought two of his pupils back to school for throwing stones at passing traffic. The WPC said she was going to take the girls straight to the police station but thought it might be better for all if the school punished them.
The headmaster quite agreed and was most grateful to the WPC for her kindness, though he was more than a little surprised when she insisted on punishing the girls herself. Though if it helped to keep the girls and him out of court he would go along with her request.
Later that day the headmaster telephoned the local police-station to offer his thanks for the sensible way the police-woman handled the situation rather than involve the courts, only to be told by the desk sergeant that no WPC Johnson was stationed there.
A few days later the policewoman returned to the school to see how the girls were getting on. Her cover was blown! She was not a WPC at all but just a local resident who had a grudge against the noisy girls. A local resident who had obtained a policewoman's uniform from the local fancy-dress store. And now it was her turn to feel the sting of leather and rattan upon her bare behind.
